What Is a Wheel Alignment?
A wheel alignment adjusts the angles of your vehicle's wheels so they sit and point the way the manufacturer designed them to. Three measurements matter most: camber (how much the tire tilts in or out when you look at it from the front), caster (the angle of the steering axis, which affects stability and steering return), and toe (whether the front edges of your tires point slightly toward or away from each other). When all three are within spec, your tires sit flat on the road and your steering feels predictable.
Over time, and especially after hitting a pothole, curb, or rough patch of road at speed, these angles can shift out of spec even when nothing looks visibly bent or broken. That's why alignment is checked with a computerized alignment rack rather than by eye. Why You Need a Wheel Alignment
Most alignment problems trace back to something the road did to your car. Potholes, curbs, speed bumps taken too fast, and even minor fender benders can knock your wheels out of spec.
